Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.
Cazenovia College recently released names of students honored for academic achievement during the Spring semester of 2017. The College is home to about 1,000 degree-seeking students; those named to the Dean's List have achieved a 3.5 or better grade point average for all courses.
More than 400 Buffalo State students presented their own research or creative work at the annual Student Research and Creativity Conference held on campus in April 2017. Students from many academic disciplines including art, business, education, science, and technology explained their work using posters or presentations. Students used gallery and performance space to demonstrate work in the performing and visual arts.
The State University of New York at Geneseo has announced its Dean's List for the spring semester 2017. To be on the list, a student must have achieved at least a 3.5 grade point average while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Recipients of the Elmira College Provost's Prizes in the Academic Disciplines are outstanding in the classroom in terms of their writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills. Such students take on new experiences in research, in learning new skills and techniques, and have frequently presented or published academic manuscripts. These students are members of national academic honor societies, and the faculty at Elmira College anticipates great accomplishments from them in their chosen fields.
Elmira College celebrated its 162nd Commencement on Sunday, June 4 at the Murray Athletic Center, Pine Valley. The exercises included the conferring of 296 undergraduate and 32 graduate degrees. The Class of 2017 also included more than 115 graduates receiving summa cum laude, magna cum laude, and cum laude honors.
Clarkson University awarded more than 700 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees to students from 34 states, 26 countries and 60 New York state counties at its 124th commencement on May 13, 2017. (An additional 262 students received degrees this past winter and summer.)
Students from Medaille College's Pathways program, along with a number of College staff members, recently volunteered at the Ontario Community Garden in Buffalo. Medaille's inaugural Pathways to Service event saw volunteers clean the area, dig up old rose bushes to make way for new gardens, build several raised beds, weed the garden, and construct a compost bin out of blocks. The Pathways program is Medaille's educational and supportive mentoring program for first-year students. Students participating in the event included:
This year's Cowles Honor Scholar recipients were recongized at the Elmira College Academic Honors and Student Recognition Celebration, held Thursday, March 30, in Gibson Theatre. The honor is presented to seniors who have earned a grade point average of 3.6 or above and, thus far, have sustained this academic achievement throughout their Elmira College career. This honor is named for the College's first president, Augustus Cowles.
The Wonderful Class of 2017 celebrated the Graduating Class Reception in Meier Hall on March 24. The annual celebration included presentations of the Outstanding Graduate Award, Alumnae and Alumni Rings, and alumni pins, as well as the announcement of Candlelight Speakers.
A team of Rochester Institute of Technology cybersecurity students is heading to the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition after taking first place at the regional competition March 17-19.
A group of RIT students will take on teams from the country's top cybersecurity colleges in the 2017 National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, held April 13-15 in San Antonio.
